This unique diamond is believed to be of Indian origin,

because of its shape and the three inscriptions engraved

upon it: 'Bourhan-Nizam-Shah II 1000' (Governor of Indies

in 1591) - 'Son of Jehangir Shah Jehan Shah 1051'

(period of the Government of Shah Jehan 1641) -

'Kadjar Fath Ali Shah', (Shah of Persia in 1824).

In 1829 it was gifted to Czar Nicolas-I.

Today it remains in Russia, housed in the Kremlin.

as the central stone in an Indian diadem, bought by

the Russian Royal Family. Named after the Czar Paul,

son of the Catherine the Great, it is presently

property of the Russian Diamond Fund.
